Welcome to Spring and to the Season of Creation!
The freesias and daffodils are blooming, and there’s a bit more daylight at each end of the day…
The theme for the Season of Creation 2025 across the globe is peace with creation, based on Isaiah 32:14-18. In this powerfulpassage, prophet Isaiah offers a vision of deep restoration — not only between people, but also between humanity and the rest of creation.
Across Aotearoa and around the world, ecosystems are groaning under pressure. Many of us may feel ecological grief. Yet, Isaiah extends a hopeful invitation: to become active participants in God’s healing work through justice, humility, and faithful action.
That said, I want to stress that seeking “peace with creation” is not achieved by standing still and quiet. We must actively pursue peace.
As you may be aware, from lush rainforests to rugged coastlines, New Zealand’s landscapes are home to an array of endemic species found nowhere else on Earth, but some of them are endangered.
How are we responding to this reality? We are invited to act, pray, change, and reconcile with Creation and the Creator in unity, metanoia (repentance), and solidarity. Let’s begin the journey together!
P.S. This Sunday will be a testimony Sunday as it is the fifth Sunday of the month.
Joyfully His,
Yukiko
