Notes from Yukiko’s Desk

Dear friends of AGAC,

On Wednesday, a group of us went to Patrick and Diana’s place in Riverhead for a half-day retreat. (The photos in the coversheet of this newsletter were taken on that day.)

In the retreat, each one of us had a little walk in their lovely garden, took time to see/smell/hear/touch God’s creation.  It was fascinating to discover all kinds of creation around us by being mindful of God’s creation using our senses. You can try to do this exercise wherever you are. Let God’s creation “speak” to you about hope, newness of life. God may have a special message for you!

As we finish our Season of Creation, I encourage you to spend some time reflecting on what to give thanks for what you have discovered and learned about yourself and God in the process. Let’s ask ourselves; “what changes will we make to our lives as we consider the impact of human activity on creation?” Even though the Season of creation in 2024 ends, we should continue to be mindful of God’s creation all the time.

This weekend, I am going to attend a 3 day-retreat at St. Mary Mackillop (Catholic) retreat Centre in Mission Bay. The theme of the retreat is “reconciliation and homecoming” based on the book; The Return of the Prodigal Son, written by my favourite author, Henri

Nouwen. I look forward to the retreat will share my reflection with you next week. I am grateful that Les is taking the Sunday service at Holy Cross.

Nga mihi

Yukiko
