Dear friends of Albany Greenhithe Parish
This Sunday we are celebrating the festival of the Reign of Christ, his dominion over all aspects of our lives. It marks the end of the Liturgical Year with the tone not of fear or despair, but one of hope.
For Christ, his understanding of ‘Kingdom’ was illustrated through a sense of gentleness, celebration and welcome. Healing and forgiveness, service and sharing were the insignias by which his ‘army’ would be identified.
“I was born for this, I came into the world for this,
to bear witness to the truth; and everyone
who belongs to the truth listens to my voice.”
John 18:37
Is Christ your King in the way He describes it? Take time to reflect on what is claimed. As we ponder, we can also ask ourselves if we have placed Christ and our relationship to him at the centre of our lives from which we define ourselves and guide our thoughts and actions.
The question of Christ as King coming right before Advent is incredibly relevant. In four short weeks, we will be singing, “Hark! the herald angels sing! Glory to the newborn king!”
Rejoicing in Christ,
Yukiko
