Dear AGAC friends,
Les and I attended the Diocesan Ministry Conference this week. Within the Diocese, a concern has been raised that the current structures impede our mission and ministry. In the light of this, this year’s conference sought to provide a framework in which we can interrogate the issues and imagine the responses. I personally appreciated an opportunity to learn new perspectives and ways to do ministry. Some of them are quite innovative. If you are interested in what we learned, Les and I are happy to talk about it.
Talking about this Sunday, the gospel passage is on a familiar parable of “storm” in Mark 4:35-41. This might explain to you why “the Great Wave off Kanagawa,” a woodblock print by Japanese artist Hokusai is chosen as a cover image for this newsletter. I am inviting you to pause and reflect on the art prayerfully. Where is your attention drawn? It is God that is luring you to a treasure meant just for you. I look forward to sharing my reflection on the gospel passage through this art with you this Sunday.
In God’s embrace,
Yukiko
