Notes from Yukiko’s Desk

Dear friends of AGAC,

The creative gifts Sunday at Holy Cross was a wonderful celebration! There were a wide range of creative gifts; figures, car models, painting, quilts, woodwork, poems, books, knitting, teddy bears, calligraphy, cross-stitch, a lump, embroidery, cards, etc. And each one of them has a story behind it.

For example, when I visited Betty Campbell, our oldest parishioner, I saw a water colouring painting (see on the right) hung in her room. She told me she painted it in Fiji before she got married in 1940s when she was working there as a nurse. I got to know her through this beautiful art. I found it quite fascinating.

I really hope to hear your stories through your creative gifts!

This Sunday at Holy Cross, we have Dr Nicola Hoggard Creegan,  New Zealand Christians in Science Director, as our preacher. Nicola was my teacher and supervisor when I was studying a Masters in Theology at Laidlaw College. She was also my colleague when I was serving as a Chaplain at the Maclaurin Chapel at the University of Auckland. She specialises in the interface between evolutionary theory and systematic theology, with broad interests also in all issues of public and contextual theology and ecology. I am so excited to welcome her.

Don’t miss this great opportunity!

Every blessing,

Yukiko
