Notes from Yukiko’s Desk

Dear AGAC friends,

This week, I attended the intergeneration ministry conference held in Torbay Anglican Parish.

The theme of the conference this year was “Living Story”- What  happens when all ages truly connect in community-?

We learned how stories shape memory, identity, and participation in God’s unfolding work. I also enjoyed sharing our stories with each other. One thing that really struck me on that day was the art titled “We are All Connected” (see the cover of this newsletter). This drawing is by Anja Rozen, a 13-year-old in Slovenia in Europe.

It was chosen from 600,000 drawings by boys and girls around the world who created a piece of art that expressed what peace is like. This is what Anya said; “My drawing represents the earth that unites us. Humans are woven together; if someone gives up,  others fall. We are all connected to our planet and each other, but  unfortunately, we are little aware of it. We are woven together;  other people weave “Next to me, my own story; and I weave yours.” The art spoke to me so powerfully.

I would like to invite you to reflect on the drawing with me. I sincerely hope and pray that we can weave our stories together in our community.

Brightest blessing,

Yukiko
