Notes from Yukiko’s Desk

Dear AGAC friends,

The photo of koru in the coversheet of this newsletter was taken by myself on the New Year Day in Kelly Park in Albany.

As you may know, derived from the unfurling silver fern frond, koru holds profound significance in Māori culture. It represents newbeginnings, growth, and harmony, and hope. When I saw it, I was quite excited, particularly as it was a New Year Day. It reminded me that our life journey is like the unfolding fern frond. In our youth, we may be full of energy and curiosity, like tender shoots reaching for the light. As we move through life, facing both challenges and growth, we gain wisdom and strength. Each season brings transformation, where we release what no longer serves ours and embraces renewal. Like the fern’s resilience, we find strength in times of difficulty and continues to grow. Through life’s cycles, we evolve, uncovering more of ourselves and finding fulfillment, much like the fern’s natural rhythm.

This coming week on the 20th, I am leaving for Japan. My son and I will go skiing (on the night we arrive in the airport, we are taking a night bus to the ski resort!) for several days before flying to Hiroshima. If I need to be contacted, please email me. Otherwise, please contact Les. While I am away, Denise is taking a service on 25th, and Colleen on 1 st of Feb.

Notice. Just letting you know due to his health condition, Roger has stepped down from his role as an administrator. We are deeply grateful for his great service. We continue to pray for his recovery.

Yukiko
